A friend of mine had their car hit from behind (Ford Ka). The boot floor closest to the bumper has been bent out of shape.

Does this constitute as a potential NCT fail item? Is the boot floor considered structural? Thanks.

Are you sure the rest of the car is ok?

    the NCT will answer that.

If it's just a little bent should be OK, if it's major damage it will fail

AFAIK it's just the boot floor and cosmetic bumper damage.

Rear crumple zone done it's job and adsorbed rear impact. It needs to be repaired to bring car back to standard and contine to offer protection

The bumper you refer to is actually bumper cover more for astectis the real metal bumper is hidden out of sight under the bumper cover and as the boot floor is damaged it would indicate the metal bumper is also damaged.

If it's an old car it might not be worth repairing. cars like this are often insurance write off and should be taken off the road.

If the car was hit hard enough to crumble flooring it may have impacted the entire chassis.
A mechanic should have a look asap.

It may or may not pass nct, without actually seeing the damage done it's impossible to say.
