CV Boot starting to tear

I left my car in for a service last July and the only thing they came back with was the CV boot starting to tear, she quoted me 20E for the part and 80E for labour. I didn't have the money at the time to get it fixed. My question now is, if I keep driving will it split open and do some damage? Should I get it fixed asap? Not well up on car maintenance so any help greatly appreciated.

Yes and yes. You need to get it fixed.

Get it fixed as soon as you can. The boot protects the cv joint which contain many parts. If the boot splits open all dirt and crud from the road will get into the cv joint and very quickly grind it away ruining it. Unfortunately it's one of those jobs that time is of the essence.
