Saturday (Leopardstown)

Officials at Leopardstown expect "perfect jumping ground" to prevail for Saturday's high-profile meeting.
The Foxrock circuit will play host to a fantastic card, with the Irish Gold Cup the centrepiece among four Grade One events.

Enda Bolger's On The Fringe, winner of the major hunter chase prizes at Cheltenham, Aintree and Punchestown last spring, will also make his first appearance of the season.

Leopardstown general manager Pat Keogh cannot wait for the big day to arrive.

"We're very excited and we're looking forward to a great day's racing," he said.

"People love to come and see racing of that kind of quality.

"We're going to get a bit of rain tomorrow - up to 10 millimetres, which will move through fairly quickly.

"We're expecting the track to be soft, soft to heavy in places on Saturday, so perfect jumping ground."
Mouth-wateringly good card as well, assuming there aren't too many withdrawals from now. It's the best day of jump racing Ireland has to offer and if you get a chance to go, you definitely should.

Blast Of Koeman - 25 to 5's in the bumper already!

Blast Of Koeman - 25 to 5's in the bumper already!

2 lines of form through Gurteen, Some Neck beaten length and half LTO by Gurteen and surely Tyner sees Blast Of Koeman keeping it into Gurteen on the gallops, will be interesting.

Very strong early money, but will it continue tomorrow.

    Shyron 15:30 Lingfield
was very unlucky not to catch Realize over course and distance 15 days ago 22 Jan

beaten a neck and was flying at the finish

I would hope it can go one better tomorrow, but it's a competitive enough race

    7/2

Fantastic stuff at Leopardstown but nothing catching my eye betting wise. Great card (relatively of course)at lingfield aswell and I've gone in on For Shia and Lulu in the first looks reasonably well handicapped, I couldn't take the 20's with bet bright so had to settle for 16's.

Had a small cut at Russian Realm in the 3.30 too, 16s aswell

Ger's Girl at 11/1 is decent value considering what it has done in the first at Leopardstown.

I like Allblak des Places. Even though he should have been beaten by Outspoken at Fairyhouse the two of them put a mile between themselves and the rest when there was actually a few who looked to be going well turning in. I actually think Outspoken had similar potential to Ivanovich Gorbatov as well so Allblak des Places at 16/1 with Bet365 going 1/4 odds e/w is a good price for the Mullins second string.

Just going through the cards there and I see Mighty Concorde is still a maiden. Is Jim Culloty the worst trainer in Ireland??

He isn't much of a trainer in truth(cant remember his last winner) but Majestic Concorde's a complete and utter rogue so wouldn't blame him for it,threw away a number of races, one behind Winter Lion in particular was crazy to watch, have a look if you get the chance, think he actually ended up finishing 3rd that day :pac:
He's been running well in the last few handicaps he's been in and they've been half decent races, could pop up in one but could also get done after trading at mad prices.

Quite like Some neck in the bumper alright but Road to riches lay of the day? Why's that? Not that i particularly fancy him just think he's got every chance,i've Carlingford Lough backed e/w as he's overpriced and he did me a big favour when winning last season.

Agreed, bromley said he was one of the smartest he bought for owners this season, i took the 16/1 ew yesterday. Seems more a stayer though maybe be best at cheltenham so hope he can go well.

I tried placing a very small bet on this horse (8/1) just now with Boyles - 'Our automatic risk controls have rejected your bet'. I've no idea what that's about.

It means they traders have most likely placed a restriction on your account

(Due most likely to you winning a few pound too much off them)

Can't believe they left it so long to declare Ffos Las off.

I wish! In fact, the opposite is the case - I've consistently lost (albeit small amounts)

Wow - Mullins 1-2-3, opposition battered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,722 ✭✭✭posturingpat

Racing's one funny game, Mullins fancied Footpad at xmas and ran no race, then felt nothing could beat Ivanovic Gorbatov after what he did to lets dance and ends up haviong 3 in front of him

Should've known not to get carried away with a Juvenile hurdler :o

    Edit: he's now 10's

Oddschecker was showing 33/1 for will hill. Now into 10s.

    Ivanovich out to 5/1

Was it not Jacob onboard for the Suedes? Horse is a headcase anyway.

Got two bets on just before the off in both races and not sure whether to up stumps or keep going, trying to win more for Cheltenham.

Rayvin Black and Leaders Questions (angry face)

Friendly Royal my last roll of the dice depending.

Always the same this time of year, the lesser fancied ones are suddenly better until Cheltenham.

Wonder will the steward even be arsed looking at Bellshills ride, doubt it.

    Right on.

Think he might have run into a horse running off a very lenient mark today.

Geraghty is a laugh, after a decent amount of late money which saw the horse winning easy he says "We didn't know what we had" :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,931 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Cooper really took the bait there. The cynic in me said that Mullins sent On His Own out to lead, knowing that Cooper would not want to get too far detached. The plan was to keep Valseur Lido well back, knowing that Road To Riches would have nothing left in the tank for the finish. Just a shame it went badly wrong.

What price was Carlingford Lough in running before the last bend.

That is some amount of ground to make up. Some performance.

Carlingford Lough hit the Betfair ceiling price of 1000 (999-1) before going on to win the Irish Gold Cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,722 ✭✭✭posturingpat

Go on Carlingford Lough you daisy. The way he finished his race there's no guarantee Valseur Lido would've won if staying up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭mulbot

Really starting to worry about backing Ruby in decent chase races in future, seems to be getting worse and worse at staying on top of the horses-

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭abarkie

Valseur lido went. 1.24 at the last in running

Trying to watch the betting and the race at same time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,722 ✭✭✭posturingpat

You must know me doesn't look good after winning the Foxhunters there, looks to have broken down passing the line, heart wrenching to see. Poor animal.

Very unfortunate for connections at Leopardstown.. You Must Know Me breaks down after crossing line

He was more than likely never winning though when the replay came on again Carlingford was nearly level at the fence and really went away..

I don't now what to think of the gold cup now.. Nothing is really stamping authority at all.
