Hello has anyone else come across this. I brought my van to England.while there the DOE ran out. I have got a uk mot on it now (the van is still on irish reg.). does anyone know if i can tax the van using an English MOT instead of a DOE when I get home?
    Thanks

No. Must be DOE'd. www rsa.ie.

I'd imagine if the van is still on Irish plates and the DOE has expired then you will not be able to tax it. I'd doubt having a test certificate from another country will change that.

BTW it's interesting that you can MOT a vehicle in the UK that's on foreign plates.

you have to do that in order to re-reg it. I assume the garage thought this is what he was doing

You'll need to do a CVR test on the van and pass before you can tax it.
If the CRW is expired more that 1 year then you'll only get 6 month CRW if you pass.

Why did you do an MOT in the UK on a forgein registered vehicle? as a forgein registered vehicle it is not required to have an MOT and the MOT does not test these...

If you want to import a vehicle to the UK from Ireland you need to MoT it. From memory the MoT test sheet has a blank reg and when the UK reg. is issued you go back and they print off the MoT with the new reg. on it. That was in 2012 so I don't know if things have changed since.

I think the chassis number is recorded in lieu of a UK reg

otherwise you would only get a cert up to the anniversary of registration date.
