I was wondering if their were other Cancer patient's who have have had similar surgery to mine.
I'm a 54 year old male and had an operation last march 2015 to remove my right Lung and 4 Rib's,as a massive aggressive tumour had attached to the Lung and chest wall.
I recovered extremely well from the operation itself and 12 dose's of chemo,I have been going for physiotherapy for the surgical wounds and scar tissue, but also try to walk as much as I can, still getting tired very easily and also breathlessness too if I exert myself, climbing even slight hill's, I have to stop and catch my breath,it is getting better but very very slowly.
I'm hoping to try to go to a professional trainer in a gym soon,as I have put on weight since the operation due to inactivity, never had weight or fitness issue's as such, but woul't have run a marathon either.
I am off work a year now, but my company and union support me in every way, financially, socially etc.
I would like to hear from other's who may have had this surgery, how did you get on,more importantly how did you recover, get fit again?-- Thank's

P.S on this World Cancer Day please please keep supporting the Irish Cancer Society , Cancer patient's like myself would have been lost without their help and support, again thank you.

I am not a survivor of that one but I did have a total esophagectomy on the 9th of February 2007 due to esophageal cancer when I was only 32. I had my stomach reshaped, my ribs were broken through and I had scars on my neck, stomach and back (the back looks like a shark bite so is impressive :)). I did have issues with walking far and exercise in general but over time it has become a lot easier. I went on to have two children who are 4 and 5 at this stage.

Best wishes to you fellow survivor :)
