Fair City and other soaps spoiled on the radio

I'm not a fan of any soaps but I don't understand how people who are don't mind this.

Earlier on I happened to hear on the radio some woman talking about something that was going to happen on Fair City. She barely gave any Spoiler warning, she just said "and yeah, Spoiler warning or whatever, this character has this happen"...there was basically zero pause after she said " Spoiler warning"

What's the point in watching something if you know everything that's going to happen in detail?

    SPOILER ALERT:

Leo dies of AIDS in next year's Christmas special, contracted through unprotected sex with Mondo, who got it from Bella, who f*cked a monkey.

I never understand why people watch soaps when they know whats going to happen days in advance.

It's like reading newspapers. What's the point if you saw it on TV the night before?

When there's a lady on the radio talking about soap chances are she's going to give spoilers.
I think they do this basically to make sure people tune in because they know something good is going to happen.

She can't do that without telling the actual plot details? Like everyone does for every other TV show?
