Flow and return on thermal store

Have a 600l thermal store connected to a gas boiler. Plumber appear to have connected the flow and return to an inlet and and outlet on the tank that are at the same level to each other, about half way up the tank. The inlet and outer are about 50 cm apart. I would normally expect the flow to be higher than the return.

Hw drawn from very top of the tank.

Ufh drawn just below and a type of secondary return from boiler was fitted below the Ufh coil.

What issues, if any, could the level of the flow and return cause for me?

Plumber saying it is more efficient as boiler will burn at less power but for longer to heat the top of the tank.
