Pain After Filling

I had got a filling on one of my upper wisdom teeth (well, the only wisdom tooth left!) last Friday. Wasn't experiencing any pain or anything, was just noticed in an normal exam that it needed a filling.

Anyway, it's extremely sensitive to cold drinks. Whenever I have a cold drink the tooth really hurts for about half an hour afterwards, usually end up taking a painkiller.

Is this normal? Don't really want to go back to the dentist if this is normal and will subside in a few days. Don't mind getting the tooth pulled anyway if it becomes a problem. However, would prefer to avoid paying for another trip to the dentist!
