How does one use a teabag more than once?

That sounds gross. You use a teabag once, then throw it in the bin. That tae would be weak as ****. Gross.

    Tae bags are for wusses.

Loose tae puts hairs on your chest.

You don't use a tea bag more than once.
Anyone who does is a tight ass idiot.

Nooo You put the loose tea in a cup ..... ffs

By making two cups of tea simultaneously. Using a teapot. Or move the bag from one cup to the other using a teaspoon.

A teabag can't be reused unless used immediately

But then I've got to wash two cups, and a teapot.

    Wait for the....

I'm so poor I always have to reuse teabags. We dry them on the clothes line but at least it's easier than when I was a child and we had to spread the tea leaves on hot stones to dry them.

Generally, other than in a tea pot, a used teabag after one cup belongs in the compost bin.

You don't dip the teabag. You squeeze it against the side of the cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,313 ✭✭✭✭Sam Kade

Take it out with a spoon, leave it on the spoon and use it for the next cup. I don't understand people that want black tea once the water goes through the teapot I don't care how see through it is.

Ugh, too strong. Like them people that leave the teabag in while they're drinking it.

Then there are the people who put milk in while the teabag is still in the mug. Blerk.

Can't beat a good tea bag.

Put the tea bag into a small ramekin dish with a lid on it. Lidl bags are good for two mugs easily.

They're not though are they. The second cup wouldn't be nearly as good as the first, or you have 2 cups of mediocre tea.

Ya scabby bastards with yer lidl teabags.

And I mean, the first time you use them.

    Re-use of tea bags :eek::eek::eek:

I can't wait for campaigners to start knocking on my door to find out what they are going to do about this.
    This must stop.

An average, thrown together, cup of tea is just hot liquid. A really good cup of tea is a delight to the senses and the soul. Satisfying refreshment to be savoured and enjoyed.

I've come to the conclusion that most Irish people don't actually like tea, they like tea flavoured milk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,809 ✭✭✭Speedwell

A Chinese coworker once brought some special loose tea back from a visit to his parents. He brewed them in a pot with a filter, then threw out the entire first batch. The second brew on the same leaves was good. The third batch was divine, with subtle flavors and sweetness. The fourth batch was a pastel version of the third batch. Then we threw out the leaves.

When I was in Argentina, we did nearly the same thing with mate.

Right so a mug of tea takes about half an hour for you!

Well, I am a lingerer :) I wish I could find that Chinese tea again, though. Most mornings I steep a Punjana tea bag about three minutes and throw it out.

It is. Hence why I'm so opposed to this reusing the teabag nonsense.

For a country that claims to like tea, there is a serious amount of ignorance regarding how to brew tea.

    BS 6008:1980 / ISO 3103
The pot should be white porcelain or glazed earthenware and have a partly serrated edge. It should have a lid that fits loosely inside the pot.
If a large pot is used, it should hold a maximum of 310 ml (±8 ml) and must weigh 200 g (±10 g).
If a small pot is used, it should hold a maximum of 150 ml (±4 ml) and must weigh 118 g (±10 g).
2 grams of tea (measured to ±2% accuracy) per 100 ml boiling water is placed into the pot.
Freshly boiling water is poured into the pot to within 4–6 mm of the brim. Allow 20 seconds for water to cool.
The water should be similar to the drinking water where the tea will be consumed
    Brewing time is six minutes.
The brewed tea is then poured into a white porcelain or glazed earthenware bowl.
If a large bowl is used, it must have a capacity of 380 ml and weigh 200 g (±20 g)
If a small bowl is used, it must have a capacity of 200 ml and weigh 105 g (±20 g)
If the test involves milk, then it is added before pouring the infused tea.
Milk added after the pouring of tea is best tasted when the liquid is between 65 - 80 °C.
5 ml of milk for the large bowl, or 2.5 ml for the small bowl, is used.

Of course you squeeze the bag, all the good tea is hiding in the middle of the bag.

I let it stand for a minute or two, then squeeze the life out of the bag to get all those tannins out.

The closer it is to a cup of coffee the better. Sometimes I put a little bit of coffee in the tea. God, I love coffee.

    Only partially serrated.

    Anyway, proper tea is theft.
