These handheld ewe manual milking machines are for sale on donedeal

I think they would be great to milk out a ewe and tube the lamb...

Hand milking is slow and the ewe often kicks the jug just as its full!

The issue is that they are way over priced...€250

Has anyone out there got a homemade one or a more affordable version

jeez these would be a godsend if they were about 100 euro, my routine when lambs are born is milk about 200 ml out of the ewe and give lambs about 100ml each, iodine, pump of spectam and leave to bond. i find i very rarely have to go back near them and they thrive on. milking isnt a major job but would be very handy any thing to save labour and time is only a good thing

You tube every lamb? (or do you give em the 100ml in a bottle?)

You have a good few sheep too dont you Dickie, seems like a lot of work...

Is that not overdoing it, have you had trouble with ecoli to be so particular

I saw that donedeal ad as well. To be honest, would a ordinary breast hand pump made for humans not do the same job for a fraction of the price ? . I've been using cheap disposable baby bottles on the lambs for years without any issue. That is if you didn't mind queuing up in boots to buy one.

no feed them out of bottle the minute the hit the ground, thats if im there, if in middle of night and i find them born and dry i pull a bit out of her try them and if they ont suck then i know they got the fill. i lamb inside so spectam is good to keep scour at bay it could become a problem after a lot of ewes go through the pen. i find lambs to valuble not to make sure that when you get them out alive after 8 months preparation and carrying in ewe. once i do these few little jobs 99% of time they power on. i lose lambs every year even with this, through an odd abortion, fox, weak lamb etc so i try to make sure to leave the loss to what i really cant control to much.
