I have been honoured to be asked would i be a groomsman for my best friend of almost 16 years in a couple of months time. Now here is the question what are my duties if there are some if any? Now i know that i may have to help people to their seats and help the eldest sit down first, but are there any other duties? I cant wait for it but nervous all the same

Best man will do a lot, but just be there and greet family and friends.
Talk to the best man / groom and ask if there's any tasks they need help with.
Depending on the wedding, they may need a hand setting up the room etc...
Could give the best man a help collecting the cards.
Always keep an eye out to see if anything needs to be done... even if it's encouraging people to hit the dance floor after the first dance! :D

    Enjoy it!

Ive done it twice. be prepared for groom to change mood into something youve never seen before. Nearly fell out with one of them cos he was being such an ar*e. He was under tremendous pressure for the wedding. Slightest thing was setting him off and stag was awful because of it despite best efforts. Never seen him like that before or since. Had to sit him down and explain what he was being like and lads were gonna go home, he explained how much pressure he was under and we jsut about got through it

    Other guy was grand.

write a short speech, say nice things about the women, slate him, give out a few envelopes on the day, smile in the pics, go to the church for the rehearsals. throw the groom up on your shoulder at 2am in the morning. make sure he doesnt fall. all good.
