I'm currently beginning a job bridge placement and was wondering if anyone could clarify on this. The rate I was getting was 144, but was told it would be getting 238? Is this correct? It says on the site that anyone up to 24yo continues on the same rate as they were. It doesn't say about 25?

Its your current jobseekers rate plus 50.

Not alot for the hours you do. 30 hours works out to be €6.46. Whereas the minimum wage is over €9.

What's so different about jobbridge workers? They do the same work. The scheme should have been abolished years ago but now it seems like normal. The way they like it.

I agree it's low but I really need the extra 50 since my rate was 144, I've been struggling for a while on that and need more for bills. I was fed up of applying for stuff all the time and being knocked back. Im biting the bullet and trying to do something about my lack of experience. Im a college graduate with no experience and have no other choice. I'd rather be learning a new skill than sitting around. McDonalds won't even take people on without experience. It's a catch 22 and I've been stuck in it for too long it was affecting me mentally. I'd rather be out doing something to keep my sanity. But the 40 hours I think is unessessary for this scheme.

Its sad to hear that someone getting 144 cannot survive that they have to do a jobbridge for extra money to pay bills. So very wrong.

It's true though, I just want to sign off and be able to pay my way and afford to live. The whole thing can get to you so much and affects everything in your life. Seeing all these figures come out of people off the dole, I don't believe it. It must be that we are just signing onto schemes. I can only hope I get a job by the end.
