Just bought 2 of the black ones here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331908628808 - €37.60 delivered with a 10% discount for buying two of them.

Yeah I noticed you can get them quite cheap on eBay. Cheaper than Amazon anyway. So my paranoia tells me there must be some skulduggery afoot.....are there fakes about?

I got the Edge as well, which I hadn't.

I just dont see the point , I really dont. It looked nice in the shop but in reality it doesn't do anything.

I would normally think the same but these were through the official UK O2 ebay shop so i'm assuming they are infact Samsung wireless chargers and not cheap knock offs. Time will tell ha.

Sorry only copped on you were talking to kaiser

They have good feedback but you have me wondering now so I've mailed them.

I had both. The thing i missed most about the edge was the 5.5" screen. Pity the regular 7 didnt come in this size.

  • Posts: 8,317 ✭✭✭ Sylvie Microscopic Giant

lol I bought the regular S7 but I'm seriously looking at the Xiaomi Mi5. I have practically everything decent Xiaomi make (earphones, powerbanks, miband, bluetooth earphone) and thought the Mi5 might work better with them than the S7.

Buyer's remorse eh? Hate it! :D

I read reviews of both at the time as I wasnt convinced the edge screen was worth the extra money but once I read it had better battery life I was sold

The edge is great IF you keep it in a cover. I have nine in a wallet cover and it's brill. It's a pain in the hole when I take it out to charge it. You can't scroll the screen if the fingers of the hand holding it are touching the screen. Pic quality is fab though

The screen. I also think the camera is vv good. Had an s5 and this is 100 times better. 3 eye phones2x6's and one 5 in the house and the s7 is light years ahead of them.

Apologies for that. I got my current wireless charger, the flat one, on eBay from a seller called razfartan and it's the real deal. I'm just curious how the eBay sellers can undercut Amazon so significantly (in my experience it's usually Amazon with the best price!).

+1 on this at first I was getting a minimum 24hrs per charge cycle 5 months on and the last full charge I only got 14hrs so some difference. I've sold it now as I'm going back to iPhone.

Has anyone come across this issue before?

I've had an S7 for about 2 weeks now. I got a prompt on Saturday night that there was a firmware update from Samsung. It was late evening so I kicked it off. I checked the phone a while later and it was back on the lock screen. The message on screen said that because it had been updated, I had to use my PIN to unlock it (instead of fingerprint).

I put my PIN in and it wasn't accepted. I tried a few times, tried turning off and turning it on again, rebooting, etc. The retry time on the pin went from 30 seconds, to 1 minute, to 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes. After the 3rd 60 minute retry I just gave up and Factory Reset it. Absolute pain in the ass to set everything up again, and I lost 2 weeks of SMS messages.

It seems to be a known issue, although for some, shutting down and restarting fixed it (for others, changing the pin from their Samsung account online also helped).

Needless to say, I've set up a Samsung account and I've added some backup options to my phone to make sure I don't lose anything important in future, but it was a painful few hours that I shouldn't have had to go through.

Has anyone had a similar experience with firmware updates?

Yeah, some time ago I rebooted my phone and I couldn't remember my pin so was locked out but eventually got back into my phone using Samsung find my phone reset password, but did a hard reset then when backed up stuff, a pain in the arse but at least with this level of protection if you do loose or have it stolen you can use it to lock your phone and make it unusable to who ever has it.

Do you sign up for an account on the Samsung UK site? I'm looking at the IE one and see no reference to creating an account although it does mention product registration.

Go into Settings / Accounts on your phone and "Add Account".
"Samsung account" should be one of the options.

Once you've done it, you'll get an email with a link to finish the activation.

    The link takes you here:

For anyone getting it (or who did get it) from t-dimension, be aware that the SM-G935FD does not have an EU warranty and you'll have to send it back to them in Hong Kong if you need repairs, which they say will take 2-4 weeks. I tried Samsung's repair shop and also their UK place but neither place have the parts for a replacement.

Small update on this, sent it off to them on Monday 22/8, they got it on Wednesday 24/8. They still haven't finished the repair so please make sure you get a version that doesn't need to be shipped back to them! I imagine it'll be at least another week until I have it back.

September update today on the unlocked one. The new gallery will take some getting used to.

Also, to rub it in even more that we live in the technological third world, the update also preinstalls Android Pay that we can't use.

Do ever not be moaning about something?

I would personally have no use for Android pay as the card I would be tying it to would be contactless anyway. So what's the big deal!

    Hi all,
    I'm thinking of getting the S7 Edge, but have a couple of questions which I'd love your advice on;

    1. Do you think this is the best phone out at the moment or would there be another you'd recommend over it?

    2. Is there a particular carrier you'd recommend? I'm due an upgrade on 3 at the moment.

    Thanks v much
