Clutch slave cyl question

    The car is a 1.4d4d yaris. 2004.
Got my clutch done about 60k ago and the pressure plate was replaced too. Thought that would be it but it has become hard to get into gear lately. Had a look at the slave cylinder area today and saw the fork and slave cylinder have extended a bit. I think this indicates either a worn pressure plate or clutch or both. Im surprised at this since 90% of my drive is in top gear and im gentle enough on it. Anyway, i pushed back the slave cyl to see is it free etc and it slowly extended back to its original position. But this means there is a bit of pressure on the fork, thrust bearing AND pressure plate all the time, even while i'm crusing along in top gear. This must be contributing to pressure plate failure. Is there meant to be something in place to prevent this or are all cars like this?
