Custom built desktop...after Dell?

Now that Dell (sadly) no longer allow one to spec a desktop, what are my options?

I would be looking for a machine for editing large photography files. Excellent graphics, very fast processor, lots of fast RAM all essential.

I've used PC Specialist in the UK once for a laptop and found them excellent. Just wondering what my options are.

    Thanks.

    D.

Cheapest and most flexible option would be to build it yourself. If you're not a gamer then you won't need a high end gfx card. You would be looking at i5/i7 processor, 16GB RAM, SSD hard disk and a secondary mechanical for file storage. Your monitor will be be a big factor in terms of colour reproduction and clarity. Do you have a max budget?

    Thanks for the reply.

My monitor is excellent. I profile it regularly.

The files I work on can be up to 1gb, so both processor and RAM grunt are essential just to move them around efficiently.

I was thinking minimum 32Gb RAM and i7.

Budget? I'm not sure. I'd like to be presented with a few options. Anyone in Dublin area building to order?

    Thanks again.
