Grazing rates - help

Any help on this would appreciate.

Have a field (30 acres) at back and can't afford to stock with cattle for a bit for other reasons. sheep man wants to take it for grazin on a monthly basis and we agree a rate per head. He is sound man and I don't want to fall out with him over the price. He wants to take it til Nov and I don't want to do conacre as I only need it this year and don't like the notion of renting out stupid and all as that sounds as that's what I'm doin now. He wants to go a rate per head per month and obviously no entitlements which aren't much anyway. I don't think he'll abuse but if he does I won't be slow in opening the gate and letting them out. He would be doing me a favour as I don't want to set it or sell silage as the crowd round here would only abuse it.

What would be a fair price?

How does per head work though,he could be moving more sheep in and would tell you nothing about it,mabey that's not the way it works I don't know.

If it was me I'd set a monthly rate for the 30 acres and not worry too much about it.

For sheep it's a euro per head per month tis what I got off a lad who in fairness would be generally very frugal for a bit of reseeded ground I wanted cleaned back.

I'd say a euro per head per week.

OP I would be setting a maximium number. Wouldn't be the first time that a fella took grass on a per head basis and overstocked land for a few months.
Also what are the fences like - nothing better than white vermin to ruin good neighbourly relations :D

Yeah but if the guy overstocks it on a per head basis he'll be paying more per month. He'll have it grazed out and he'll have to take the stock off as no point in starving stock and paying on a per head basis for it. Once he has the stock gone you don't have to let him back.
if the guy rents it for 11 months and overstocks it he can leave stock on it or take them off and put them back later in the year.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think he will take the mickey but if he does I can let them in the yard and he can take them. Fences are ok and it needs reseeding anyway as old and 2012 shagged it.
