Finally, a glimpse of Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki). Who is not a happy bunny:

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

  • Love that they're using Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' in the trailer, suits it well.

    Two slightly different extended trailers:

I never properly watched the first movie, but I have a chance to do that tonight: BBC1, 8:30 PM.

That really ruins the film for me seeing the scenes without the CGI.

I stopped it after a minute.

Which is great, because I didn't think they could really replicate all that was great about the first.

The reviews I'm seeing are saying it falls short of the first one. Not that it's bad but just not as good. I didn't expect it to be as good so that's not that disappointing for me anyway.

It's being screened tonight also.. it's on before Vol 2 in the Lighthouse, Cineworld 9, Imax etc.

Looking forward to both, will have to mainline a few Cappuccinos though as I'm knackered.

We just spent the last two hours watching the first one and now heading out to watch this with huge smiles.

I forget how fun the first one was no matter how many times I've seen it.

    That was Awesome!

Really enjoyed it. More of the same from GotG1, with more (attempted at least) emotional interactions etc. Some odd camoes here and there.

It's great fun and doesn't take itself seriously. Soundtrack is good - the intro credits scene is fantastic, though one or two tracks are a little forced. Groot and Drax were almost overused in terms of comic relief and cuteness, but it doesn't quite go too far, reigns itself in in time.

If you liked the first one, odds are you'll really like this one.

I absolutely loved it. Felt the same but also very different from the first. Unburdened from the shackles of having to introduce the characters Gunn just lets loose and it is magnificent to behold. Can't wait to go back and see it again.

It was good. First one was better though. A solid 7 out of 10 for me

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,862 ✭✭✭✭titan18

Ya, it's good but nowhere near as good as the first one. Same humour and everything but finale of the first is far better with the Groot scene being the particular highlight. There's nothing of similar quality in this film.

So seen this today. Big disappointment. Terrible story Nowhere near as good as the first one. The intro scene is so overdone as well. I am sorry but Drax is just not in anyway funny. He trys but they are all so forced it just makes it tedious. I also found all the talking about him saying David Hasslehoff was his father figure or whatever rather tedious. The Villains goal just does not make sense. The gold race did not seem very clever either. Seriously were they that desperate that they needed the 3 battery's that Rocket robbed. If the were ZPMs or a Warp engine or something ok but battery's. There was some good points like Gamora and her sister and the blue lad all had decent parts and story.
Overall do I would only give it 4 out of 10 stars.

There is hope do the next film could be much better.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I'm not sure they were supposed to be clever, really.

    Just arrogant and decadent.

It's pretty good. Nowhere near as good as the first one though, but then I doubt they could have recaptured that same feeling and energy the first had.

I left the cinema happy enough.
It did what it set out to do.

It was a good movie. I enjoyed it but I found the story to be a bit ridiculous. Who ever wrote the script was on drugs.

that movie was a piece of crap. don't wanna come across as an edgelord or whatever but my jesus, in long parts boring and in short parts confusing. A whole bunch of sh*t shoved on to the screen and little to nothing happens. Completely overloaded with characters that you barely give a toss about and just this blunt, heavy handed and plodding approach to everything
groot getting the fin for your mans head... a scene that does nothing and takes too long but hey look at the thing doing a thing isnt the thing cute... fine and all but not for the 500th time in a movie

Im really sorry and I know I sound like a cynical fart beating the same drum, but if thats 'good' then standards have really dropped so god damn far. Is that all you need to do now? Throw a bunch of colourful sh*t on the screen and make derpy jokes? And Michael Bay gets a hard time? If thats what good is now than the narrative is that Michael Bay is a good director and a visionary who was doing this long before it was cool. Thats where we/you are
