Inappropriate for him to be with a 17 year old at his age really. Sounds like bull**** to me, he should know better, but I'm not a judge so *shrug*

He admitted having sex with a 13 year old but that's grand because he thought she was older.

Is this a dangerous precedent or has this always been the case for extravagantly wealthy people?

So an adult man goes on to an adults only dating website looking for something in particular,
And 13 year old signs up to an adult only dating website portraying her self as an adult ,

Meet up and have consentual sex and the mother of the young lady finds out due a PayPal payment.

It's always been the case, and not just for the extravagantly wealthy.

I don't get how at the very least he isn't guilty of paying for sex.

I would say its an example of how money can get you away with nearly anything, in comparison to this incident here

Apologies for the mail link actually heard about that story from a guardian article rightly criticizing the language used.

While child sex issues are touchy and all and people can be idiots I've seen some teenagers look older than they are and the women expecially can be very difficult to judge. Probably got off because he met her on a dating site she shouldnt have been on in the 1st place and he didnt truly know her age. Basically shes jailbait in this case. The majority of thes cases are usually involving deliberate grooming etc but it looks like in this case its not and the fault is on the girl for lying about her age and being up to stuff she shouldnt have been up to.

I get that if somebody is like 15/16 but 13 is young and will look really young!

There are countless cases mostly in the states but a few in the UK of older females having sex with underage boys. Often these are teachers and students where there is no ambiguity over age. Nearly in every case the woman gets off and the press treat it as a mental health issue rather then a pedophile predator. When they do find the woman guilty they get a slap on the wrists and usually get a reduced sentence on appeal.
Men on the other hand usually have the book thrown at them. This guy probably burned a lot of cash to get a result women get all the time. All the anger in this thread is misplaced and should be directed to the females who get off all the time. But of course who cares about men? The only part of the population which could these days are female.

Just because one segment of the population gets away with softer punishments for crimes doesn't mean we should applaud a result like this, equality should mean being raised to the same standards not lowered to the same.

I'm a woman and I agreed with you right up until this point:

And then you completely lost me. Sure, let's let this scumbag completely off the hook because some women have also done scummy things. That's just stupid.

None of us have seen a photo of what the girl looked like at the time so we can't say she didn't look over 17.

I feel sorry for his wife and kids.

I was gonna make an "if it wasn't for those pesky kids I would have gotten away with it!" joke, but given the topic of the thread that might not be appropriate :D

Whether his side of the story is true or not we'll never know, but I believe that 13-year-olds can look like 17-year-olds.

Why take the risk in all honesty when age is such a grey area??
    (Guessing the age)

I'm guessing she was very pretty and men are slaves to their mickeys. Not excusing what he did of course, but I imagine that's what happened.

Jesus noone could be that hard up??

Seems all sorts of risks to take with potential jail time hanging over you

(Not that I'd advocate it without jail time hanging over you/anyone)

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't it a crime to pay a minor for sex? Even if she was above the age of consent, she was also under 18

That's not my point my point is this happens all the time people (females) get away with these crimes all the time. Getting upset by this case is misguided if your problem is that he didn't get the sentence he deserved. There is a huge trend of letting females away with it.
If you are truly angered by criminals getting away with horrible crimes and you get upset by a rich man buying his way out of the case and you have nothing to say about similar crimes by a woman then it's just plain sexist.

Here is a story from today. Where is your outrage about this?
Nah nobody cares if it's not a man involved. That's why I'm calling bull****.

If you had started a thread about that I think you would have seen that a lot of people are outraged by it. I hadn't seen the story, I don't read the Daily Mail.

(Also, it's a poor example, she got 18 months. Not enough, but more than he did)

Not to mention the fawning of John Peel.

What exactly is John Peel alleged to have done?

Put any other demographic in that post for your free siteban and tolerance class.

Back to the case, theres no way he didn't know she was well under age.

Dont believe him for one minute, girls can get away with a few years alright, but theres no way any man with even half way functioning vision could mix up 13 with legal age. Let alone a guy who is smart enough to get so rich. The fellow was engaged in acts of wanton noncery, nothing more to it.
