I moved address and got a new router. That's the one that's set up. I have an old one set up upstairs for better coverage and the only lights that are lit up are power and WiFi. Is it working right or should the internet light be lit too? I'm with vodafone

Have you got a cable running between the LAN ports on each router or have you got the 2nd one plugged into another phone socket.

If it's the latter then that won't work.

You need to disable DHCP on your older router, and give it an IP address in the same subnet as your new router.

Then link them with a LAN cable.
Then you will need to change the wireless SSID to the same name as your new one. .And set them on different channels.

I did it the 2nd way. I have powerline adaptors, will that work?

Yeah, the internet won't light up as its not acting as a modem, its piggybacking on the primary. This will work just fine, just make sure one of the LAN ports (1-4) blinks to verify theres traffic there.

The lan port is lighting up. I havent got a clue what to do now. Im in my new routers settings now. Ive clicked on basic settings and then lan. So u want me to disable dhcp server is it? Then what. You can talk to me like a child.

OK I followed an article online. I named the old router the same as the new one and changed its IP address and encryption key and turned off dhcp. I rebooted and when I tried to connect to the wireless network it wouldn't connect to the old router. Any ideas? Also it won't login to the old routers new IP to change settings.
