Made my annual trip to Orlando for the show, 10km of golf porn and some of the weirdest golf **** you will ever see. (The Polaris self correcting ball from two years ago has still yet to be topped)

If anyone wants anything checked out let me know I have a few hours free today and tomorrow

Yes, could you check if there is a 20 m/s wind outside and if it takes you 4 shots to get onto a par 4 - you end up with face burn , cold balls and about 1 hour to warm up after.

Balls the fix themselves - they'd sell anything The Yanks. I'd love some balls that fix themselves please.

Sounds deadly, any info or developments on the lower end of launch monitors would be interesting ie ES14 or Voice Caddy SC200. They both look interesting although limited at this price range. The SkyTrak looks like a big step up in features but also in price at something like $2k so it's pipe dream stuff really.
Any new competitors coming out or the likes of SkyTrak to release a cheaper model?
Enjoy the expo and try not to get too carried away.

+1 on the pics, plenty of pics as probably will never get to see such an event in person.

I know not the thing to say - but from a technology point of view - I think it is a bit out of date.

Arccos is an improvment but, still not right.

I'd imagine there be a few similar gadgets on show this year.

Looking at twitter I think I seen 2-3 that not only track the stats but also analysis the swings aswell

Was really impressed with the ES14, doplar radar with all the data you need. You can buy it at the show for $450 and retails at $599. Requires a little moving when switching between irons and woods but at that price who cares.

Here is my 6 iron data -

Had a quick look at the new products area yesterday evening and one stood out. I can decide if it's simple genius or just mad. It's a pencil pairer for tees.

    Brilliant piece of marketing. :D

How many times do you need a short tee? And how difficult is it to stick a broken one in the ground? I mean they're splintered with an even sharper tip usually.

Even if you could actually find the broken bit. Cue even longer rounds of golf as lads hunt around for the broken bit of their tee so they can stand there and pare it for the next time they need a short one. :D

I had a great idea glue tee - yes Glue Tee

Called glue tee - what you do is, get, like glue and put the glue on one end and then put other end on with less glue.

Lets stick together in this global tee problem.

Far better idea. I mean it's a long tee you've broken, so that's what you need. The only problem I can see with your breakthrough and innovative invention is if you pick up the pieces of two different tees and glue them together resulting in a bent or crooked tee...

If you are into testing clubs and shafts (like me) then the show is nirvana. You would need three whole days just for the indoor range alone. This is just one half of it.

It's happening for everyone. Somehow not happening too much for me ;) (only once so far and that was with my only use of quick reply).

I'm using Firefox if it's browser related.

Did they have any of the new Calloway golf balls that look like a football?

    these ones:

    I1-100276-truvis.jpg

interesting logic behind them, though not sure the traditionalists will be willing to move away from the all white balls

I think I spotted Tom Watson playing with these recently?

Can't find the exact article I read on it, but the general idea of it is that the markings trick your eye somewhat. It makes the ball seem bigger, more defined & 3-dimensional than a white ball & gives more feedback to your eyes.

Also, its easier to see, particularly on short game, the feedback on your strike. So on chips you can see the type of spin on the ball more easily, and on putts you can get a more effective view of how the ball is rolling.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

That is interesting alright... especially about the ball appearing bigger and more defined. I've marked some practice balls with lots of black dots before and it is interesting to see how different spins are put on the ball when chipping.
