golf club purchases or fitting, in line for a bonus at work, will be allowed to spend a little more(the reclaimed VAT) if my company can claim back the vat on the purchase. Has anyone ever done it and with what company did you but from?

VAT is only reclaimable on purchases and expenses incurred wholly, necessarily and exclusively for the purposes of the company's business.

So unless the company routinely buys golf equipment as part of it's normal day to day business; no.

This won't make any difference (good or bad) to your employer but every employee can be gifted a tax free voucher of €500 from their employer.

If you're on the higher rate then that's a saving of ~€250. Oneforall vouchers are commonly given but I think (open to correction) that they could give you any kind of voucher. It can't be a cash payment.

They end up paying the same amount but you save a nice chunk. Worth seeing if they will do that.

There would still be a BIK element to it even if they were in the trade?. Plenty of ways around it, some more grey than others.

Bugger, I was afraid that was the case, someone else more or less said that on the tax forum. So my company can't use the VAT exemption facility at McGuirks....... so a bloody lawnmower will have to do.:(

The company wouldn't do that, alas.

Tut tut tut, think you knew the answer here mate (ha ha, just noticed your signon)
Best option is the tax free voucher (one a year tax free) or the other one is if you have long service then you can receive a much larger (depends on length of service) long service award but this time it can't be a voucher, it must be tangible goods.
