Have a service coming up soon for my S60 Volvo 2011 and I have a feeling its going to be a big one. €180,000km on the clock so a lot of things are coming at once. Going from past bills and indications given at my last service im guessing it could come in at around €2,200 to get all sorted.
thins that need doing - Service, Timing belt, front & rear brake pads, brake fluid, issue with rear suspension( trailing arm bushings indicated at last service)..
If I was to stick with a dealer is it worth pricing around or could an Independent to tackle the above..
    Sorry for the long post.

Ask dealer first - get an itemised quote if you can.
Then check with local indies, again itemised. See if you can find a Volvo specialist in your area.

    "Full service" can mean anything.

You would be mad to stick with a dealer, surely 1k would be closer to the mark, how did you come up with 2.2k

    That's more than my s60 cost and it's also done 180k :D

You've no real reason to stick with the dealer.I assume at 5 years/ 180k any warranty is dead and buried long ago and that's about the only reason to stick around.

I'd be tempted to say almost divide the main dealer peice by two for a good independent quote.

Surely (without knowing the intricacies of the s60) you'd get a service, brake pads and a timing belt change for well under €1k.

Just checked a 2011 V60 we had on fleet that did big miles. D3 163ps engine.

Timing belt was done at 168k (possibly a bit early, but it was going in for service anyway), in a Main Volvo Dealer, for less than €400 + VAT. Seems remarkably cheap for a Volvo....

Service at the same time was quite pricey though. Oil, pollen and fuel filters, front & rear pads and intercooler pipe came in around €900 +VAT.

Next service after that was back to €350 + VAT in a Volvo dealer.

That car did start to have re-occuring issues with coolant leaking and down on power from 217,000km onwards.

    If you have a D2 1.6, then I think that's a timing chain and shouldn't need replacing.

Thanks for the replys folk, its a D3 so I think its a belt. On my last service I got a print out of my invoice along with a health check that told me what was coming down the line along with prices against the items so im sure the prices I have are ballpark.

Service - (filters, oil, usaul service stuff) usually are €300
    Timing belt quote - €598
    front brake pads - €146
    Rear brake pads - €601
    Brake fluid - €74
Rear suspension (2x trailing arm busings) - €503

    Total = €2222.

As well as that my tires are on the way out:(

Ill get a price from the dealer and see what an indy can do. Is there anything that needs to be done that only Volvo can do??

There is nothing on the list that a decent independent would have any problem doing, get some local recommendations and ask them to quote for the above list
