05 Passat passenger door locked and can't open

I've an 05 Passat (new shape) and the passenger door has become locked and wont open at all. The key fob will open all doors except this, the door won't open from the inside either when the button to unlock all doors is pressed. Also and maybe unrelated the window won't go down.

My first thought was that perhaps a fuse is gone which controls the electrics in the door resulting in the window not working and perhaps a solenoid controlling the door lock not working. But of course the fuse panel is behind the door when closed so I can't access it. Also there's no key lock on the passenger side (drivers only).

Does anyone have any ideas what may be going on here or what I can do?

    Thanks

Any chance that the comfort control module (CCM) under the carpet in the passenger footwell got wet?

In this weather it's not impossible but I don't think so. I will check.

    You think it's electrical?

Any suggestions how would I get around this, assuming the fuse box can't be accessed with the door closed??

Well I had really erratic electrical problems on my own Passat. Central locking and drivers electric window not working, boot not opening etc.

Changed the ccm and all worked fine. Mine wasn't even wet or damp, just went faulty. Not saying you have the same problem but it's a possibility.

Look at video here from 2:10 onwards

Look between the door and the front quarter panel with a torch. Its possible that someone has tried to break into your car by slicing through the wiring loom which runs in the aperture between the door and A pillar, hence shorting the system.
Getting the door open may involve a break in kit, where tools ca be lowered into the door panel and the linkages can be manipulated. Otherwise it will be a case of ripping out the doorcard and trying to manually energise the door lock control motor.

I had a similar problem and this worked.....When outside the car hold the unlock button until all windows go down. whilst still outside the car put your hand inside the door and try opening. This worked for me....

    @ JaCrispy

Ta for the video, it looks like a different model there and there's no key lock on the passenger side but I'll have a go this evening and see what happens, didn't get time yesterday.

I managed to find this aswell which might help

    @ Waterson

No signs of an attempted break in and definitely hoping I won't have to be ripping of the door card.

    @ Moanin

Did this just allow you to enter the car or in someway reset the door controls?

One more thing, someone has suggested unhooking the battery as this might reset everything. Any thoughts on this?

Just wondering how long you had to hold the button down for?

I've tried this and there's no movement in the windows, I do hear a clicking from the back door area ok but that's it so far.

Just for a couple of seconds. All windows should drop. Is this the B6 Passat you have?

    Yeah it's a B6 (2005 New shape).

I've held the button for, maybe 20 secs and nothing has happened.

I've just thought of something. The car is a fairly poverty spec so it's only got electric windows in the front. Could this make any difference?

Quick update for anyone else with a similar problem.

After a lot of effort and some help I got the door open and the window and mirror to work. At the time we thought it was 2 separate problems the door simply being a sticky lock which eventually so with some liberal lubrication it seemed to work fine and the window and mirror being electrical but nothing obvious so we cleaned and greased the wiring loom and it all seemed to work fine.

Later on I went back to the car and nothing would work again, so I can only assume it's electrical. Something either in the loom or control unit (ecu type box) in the door. So the plan is to rip out everything in the door and perhaps find a broken wire or replace it with that from a 2nd hand door and see what happens.

It must be a corroded wire between the door and bulkhead.... Check inside the big rubber gromet halfway down the side of the door between door and bulkhead, that's were all the wiring comes into your door..
