OK so was on the m50 yesterday when I saw a white van coming very fast behind me. When I got behind me it started flashing red and white strobe lights.
Anyone know if this is a emergency vehicle or some chancer.??
Van was a white sprinter. Van had no rear windows and no signage on it either. Couldn't get reg

Emergency vehicles (strictly speaking) should only display flashing BLUE lights (although some garda vehicles have red rear flashing lights).

I'd say it was either a chancer, or a maintenance vehicle with a 'chancer' driver i.e. he should only be using the lights when pulled in on the roadside / hard shoulder to warn of his vehicles' presence (not to intimidate other road users).

Green and Red are legal light colors to use but rarely are they put in use.

I don't believe that's correct. Green is not permitted at any time and red can only be used as a rearward non-flashing lamp.
The following RSA document lists all the current lighting regs for road vehicles and the only colours permitted for flashing/strobe lights are blue or amber.

Not quite - Green have no standing in law (nor do white). Doctor on Call use green but they don't mean anything. They've as much sway as someone flashing a torch at you. Incidentally, you'll rarely ever see the greens turned on either, as they're not an emergency service in the first place anyway.

Red can be used, but only when it's rear-facing.

I saw the DubDoc car push their way through night time traffic a few times with the green light flashing. But, not recently.
