I would say three to four weeks wages or average €2,000. Is this the current average or am I away off?

It depends in what you can afford and what the person would actually like.

Do couples not shop together for an engagement ring?

Just remember that it's the biggest marketing scam in history and no matter how much you spend it's going to be effectively worthless as soon as you leave the shop with it.

There's no rule, pay what you can afford

I'd say a lot in your case because you won't be getting much wear from earrings or necklaces...

Spend what you want, what you can afford. Or don't buy one at all. I don't have one, I know women with cheap rings, women with rings that cost a small fortune....it's all meaningless. All that matters is you love each other and treat each other right.

From what I've heard. Some Yes and some No. Just speaking from people I've know/heard of getting engaged. I'd say the guy picking the ring was more popular.

Wait until Halloween and get one from a barn brack.

Personally, I would have preferred a horse.

You'd have a nightmare trying to find a wedding ring to match though.

That is not true. Jewellery shops undoubtedly mark up the value of gems/metal, but a decent piece will always have value.

You shouldn't be buying your own ring :(
