    Any experience of this?
€129 for a service seems too good to be true?
    Nearby garage charges €240.

    Thanks

Its an oil and filter either air or pollen filter and a complete checkover and report on work required.

Thanks the for the reply and forgive the ignorance, but is that not the bones of a service anyway?

Oil and filter would be they are offering an air or pollen filter which wouldnt normally be included unless you were getting a full service.

That's not a like for like comparison. The €240 quote would be for a major service with all filters.

The €129 service is pretty basic. It is still a good deal by main dealer standards, an independent would charge similar money for the same job so you are getting a main dealer stamp in the book without paying extra for it.

But it is misleading to suggest that an independent would charge twice the price for the same work, that just isn't the case.

You may of course get the complimentary phone call mid way through the service telling you that additional work will be needed, which in itself isn't a bad thing but those services will be at the full dealer price and the natural attitude will be, sure while you have it in may as well get it done...

for sure, isn't that an industry standard?

I made a habit of taking my car in once a year for a special offer service at the main audi dealer. To be fair it was great value at 119 quid.
I would generally look after alot of servicing myself such a brake pads, aux belt, plugs etc
To be fair to the dealer, they never came with the hard sell or with bull**** claims of worn discs etc but no doubt if your car was needing work and you allowed them to do it, your offer service could easily turn into 1500 quid.

When I queried a timing belt change under motorcraft service in Ford Rialto, they weren't aware of it.

First try to explain was unsuccessful and I was given a higher quote (440 Euro).

I tried again later over the phone with another service advisor. She wasn't aware of it too but she said they will do it for 350 Euro when I said it is on the Ford Ireland website couple of times :)

So long story short, double check the price for service before handing over the keys.
