Probably a bit late now but it would really depend on the price you're paying. If it's as it stood in 2012 it's lacking a decent fork, and the rear shock isn't the best, it only has 100mm of rear travel too so it'd depend on what you plan to actually do with it, if hitting hard technical descents it'll be found wanting badly.

However, it's a full suss xc bike, so for spinning around gentle trails and if you're just getting into mountain biking it'd do, providing you got it at the right price, depending on upgrades I really don't think I'd spend over €400 for that, possibly even less on inspection.

Looked at a few bikes and ended up buying a trek fuel ex8 in seriously good condition with new gear cables, break leavers, lines and calipers

    Cool, what year/wheel size?
Just in time for the biking blitz on the 7th Feb, you should give it a shot!

Trek fuel is a good bike. You'll have the mph rain biking bug in no time. Then you will have to start hiding all the upgrades your buying.

Ah there's always something to "upgrade". Just enjoy it for the moment, you shouldn't need to buy anything for a while, you may want too but you must resist!
I get all my parts delivered to work so she's none the wiser!
It is a very enjoyable hobby but can be expensive at times!
