I am on my 4th Truck prov and wish to apply for a new one. I must apply for my test which I will but before I do can someone please clarify this CPC courses?

Given that I am only getting my full license this year I need to do the full CPC course. Do I need to do them all in one go (35hrs) or what way doe it work?

It's normally one 5 hour module per year.Don't know of any company providing the full course over a week.

IIRC it's the 5 modules need to be completed in the 5 years after your pass the test. Some countries allow you to do all the modules in one go but the RSA insist on doing 1 module annually.

The only reason they'd let you do them in the space of a few weeks is if you already had the licence and hadn't done the CPC as you weren't driving for a living and wanted to start driving.

You'll need to do the 2 CPC theory tests (questions and case studies) and the CPC practical. The practical is usually done immediately after your driving test. After you get your C licence and CPC card you will need to do 1 days training every year.

OK perfect so when applying for the C test I will also add the cpc practical.

I presume I will need to sit the CPC theory before applying for any test?

According to the RSA website a CPC is not needed in certain circumstances

non-commercial purposes, eg driving as a volunteer; drivers of emergency or rescue vehicles eg Gardai, Defence forces, Ambulance and Irish Prison service.

I have not yet got employment as a HGV Driver however I will be driving for the Civil Defense and require the C licence.

So can I not just sit the C test and come back to the CPC if I need it for employment?

    You can do that.
