AutoGlym LifeShine – applied by main dealer

    Hi Folks,

I recently purchased a new car from a main dealer and they are offering to apply AutoGlym LifeShine to the car (inside and out) for €350. Does anyone have any experience of this product? Is it worth the €350? Are the main dealer the best people to apply it – would a professional car detailer do a better job?

Just wondering should I spend the €350 on it or hold onto my money and just it to give the car a good valet every 12 months or so?? Thanks.

No, instead get talking to the guys in the Detailing forum, they will tell you how to best protect and detail the paint.

    Don't bother. Save your money.

In fact, ask them to do nothing. Don't even let them wash the car - insist that they don't as they will scratch the paint.

When you collect the car take it to Spirit-Detailing or Elite Auto Clean in Blanchardstown if you are around the Dublin area.

Have it booked in prior to this and include a quartz or nano coating.

Elite had a new 435D in today and it looked fabulous.

The car will look better than out of the factory and will have a coating that will last up to 5 years.

You can buy a life shine kit for about €30.... As other have said get Spirit or Elite to put a good sealant or nano-coating on, should cost about €250 and umpteen times better

Take this advice, that dealer stuff isn't great and their cleaning methods are questionable for new cars, if I was investing all that money into a car I'd tell the dealer to leave it as is and let the professionals do it, have a look on spirit detailings FB. The dealer job is a nice money maker for them nothing more.

My sister had it the dealer job done on a new car and it was full of swirls from day 1. Not that she cared.

100% do not get it done, take that money to Elite and get it done there by a professional.

As others have said, don't do it. Tell the dealer not to wash the car. I'd go so far as telling them not to drill holes for the number plates and leave the protective wrap on, then take it straight to the likes of Elite Auto Clean and get it done properly first time around.
