VM was predictable, makes sense that eir would keep pace considering their debts.

A wonderful way to ensure your shiny new brand resonates positively with customers.

Yes, it is pretty idiotic to raise prices by so much shortly after you rebrand, thus damaging your new brand!

Interesting to see what bundles it affects. Articles mention those affected will be written in person.

The last price hike they did last year, I rang up and was able to get a pretty good deal. I rarely worry about price hikes, as its an opportunity to actually get a good deal out of them. VM however have been poor in the few times I've contacted them since the takeover, with the latest incident them being totally unable to provide me a reasonable upgrade cost to move from 240mb to 360mb. The best they could offer was €60 a month including a €200 penalty for cancelling TV (that I get for free from them)

Will see if I'm affected, and maybe it might be an option to get a decent package in with 360.

Be surprised if I didn't get a letter. While under the UPC flag, they cold called me and I have an entire bundle including horizon, unlimited calls, and 240mb internet, for €35 a month(or €35, one or the other). Basically half price for the contract duration

With the 360Mb upgrade they've been refusing to deal at all and the loyalty dept seem to be under instruction not to make any real offers for retention. Wouldnt hold my breath for a good price.

I got an email informing me of the €5 increase last week. I was around 7/8 months into an 18 month contract. I phoned them up and said I was going to cancel as Sky were so much cheaper which they are.

I was made 4-5 offers before settling on the €90 plan which gives me 360Mb broadband, unlimited calls to mobiles and also the Horizon TV service. They offered me half price on that for 9 months and also 20% of my Sky Sports HD for the year.

My monthly before price increase was €147 and going up to €152 which I have gotten down to €113 now but I've gotten the upgraded 360Mb broadband and also added Sky Movies. I already had Sky Sports and BT sports. My bill for the last 3 months of the 12 month contract will be €158 which would normally cost €170. So my bill will be an average of €124 over 12 months but have also got the bonus of faster broadband and Sky movies. I can't complain really. The price increase while you are in contract is great as if gives you great leverage on them.

Im on the VM 240Mb/phone at €45 per month & I got the €5 increase notification via email on the 19/01/15 which will bring my bill up to €50 per month from march, I've contacted VM several times looking to upgrade to the new 360Mb/phone offer of €30 x 4 months & €60 per month after that but they wont budge as yet & say as an existing customer I'll have to pay the full €60 from the start, really tempted to cancel even if it means dropping to a slower BB service with another provider like EIR who are doing a BB & phone offer for €30 x 3 months & €62 per month after.

My Boradband isn't working a lot of the time. Wi-fi dropping all the time and need to restart the box every day. Got the e-mail for the increase of €5. If they can't sort the issues I'm having I'll switch provider.

At these VM prices it's fast becoming a out & out luxury, €60 a month for sluggish by EU standards 360Mb BB, very tempted to cancel & switch to EIR who are promising 1Gb in the near future.

Theres a high chance you'll get 1Gig from VM before you get FTTH from eir. Move for what they can offer today, not whats planned "sometime".
