Pull stopper on sink not working

The pullstopper behind the faucent on my bathroom sink has stopped working. I pull it out all the way and the stopper doesnt budge.

I may fix it if i can but firstly is there any suggestions of how i get the stopper to budge so that i can empty the sink.

The end of a kitchen knife is too thick to get enough purchase under the stopper.

I need something thin enough to get under the stopper and sturdy enough to apply upward pressure on the stopper?

    What do you think?

Is it a press to lock/press to release type ? They become problematic over time. If you get a very small flatheald screwdriver (precision type ideally) , you will be able to pry it up. Eitherway, its screwed. A replacement is a very handy job and will cost circa €15 in any plumbing suppliers.

Was hoping for a few ideas of household items that would be thin and strong enough to remove the stopper but a flat headed screwdriver is a solution i can consider..

Look under the sink. Behind the trap.
More than likely the vertical pull rod has become detached from the horizontal rod that lifts the sink stopper.
Behind the trap / Ubend and slightly above.

OP has not pointed out if its spring loaded or rod type.

You could try a drain plunger. That may be able to lift it.

This is what happened, it's a bitch to reconnect it.
