Hi All, just wondering what people's opinions are on this car as giving this serious consideration at the moment. Hyundai are offering good scrappage and a an excellent warranty period so it's very tempting. From reviews I have read it looks good, admittedly tends to favour diesel. Had anyone first hand experience. What are hyundai like for after sales if any issues.

Bought the diesel version yesterday. I have had petrol Hyundai's since 1992 and I have never had any trouble with them. I think they are a brilliant car.

I started the other thread mentioned above & have been driving the i30 petrol classic for 2 weeks now and I love it. When I was looking back in November the Deluxe for petrol was only being mentioned as an option for 2016 so I didn't consider since spec on classic was far superior to a Corolla by comparison. Deluxe as I remember gets you alloys, cruise control, reversing sensors etc. For me the only of those that could be handy are the sensors. At this point scrappage offer is listed to end on Jan 31st it was extended in Nov & Dec already, but no harm in being aware. I can't really comment on after sales yet I think experience will depend on the individual dealer as much as Hyundai. I've dealt with someone who I think I can work with in the long term, and walked away from someone else who turned me off even at the pre sales stage. Warranty is 5yrs unlimited mileage, breakdown assist is included from the AA, free annual health check. You might want to ask about a service pack offered by Hyundai also. Best of luck.

@Vistaphoto's, thanks very much for replying. Congrats on your new car, glad it's working out well for you ,and that your happy with the car. Appreciate all your advise on after service. I test drove the i30 today and it was lovely car. The accelerator is a little funny but it's a minor cosmetic detail. you would get used to it very fast. I also drove the Toyota auris luna which was lovely to drive, probably felt nicer in fact for small journey I went on both but not sure it's worth the extra cash:).

Thanks. The accelerator pedal ( hinged from the floor like a VW Golf) was new on me too, but you get used to it like you said. I've never liked the look of the Auris particularly the front, overall I think the i30 looks better. My brother has a 08 Auris which is very roomy (high roofline) so we were both surprised that the current model is so cramped in the back. We both agreed there's better head & leg room in the back of the i30 by comparison. I never had air conditioning & find it great for clearing foggy windows at the moment. I don't think a/c is in the Auris Terra but if you're thinking of the i30 Deluxe you may be comparing to Auris Aura which includes it. In the end for me the i30 was cheaper than Toyota with longer warranty, better spec (a/c & bluetooth included) & better choice of colours so I went with it and of course am biased based on that :) Since taking delivery I've found it also includes stop/start, static bending headlights (they light up depending on direction of travel), and follow me home headlights. Best of luck in your deliberations.

If you don't think it's worth the extra cash then you probably would be better off with the i30.

I have to agree with you though the auris is a nicer car to drive than the i30 . it's a nicer looking car too imo. Personally I'd have one any day over an i30.

Looking at reviews, Hyundai i30 1.4 petrol doesn't seem as good as other cars in this class for MPG? Also, resale value doesn't seem to hold as good as others? Having said that, I've often been tempted to try one.
