Buzzing behind dash

    Hi all,

Car has developed a slightly annoying buzz coming from behind dash when lights are on. Only noticed it recently enough, just after getting alternator repaired. Not sure if that has any bearing.

Anyway I tried pulling fuses out for lights and the buzzing stops when I remove the fuse for the front side lights. Put a new fuse in and that made no difference. Removed side light bulbs one by one but noise still there.

There is a couple of relays behind glove box. Thinking it may be one of them but can't relate buzzing noise to one. Tbh when I removed glove box couldn't even be sure that was source of buzzing.

Anyone experienced this before? 06 accord ctdi.

Is it louder with full beams compared to just parking lights? If you adjust the brightness by turning the trip reset left/right does that make it any better or worse?

No louder with full beams. Haven't tried the brightness will try tomorrow.
Thinking it might be a faulty relay. Definitely side lights as taking out that fuse stops it. Removing bulbs doesn't.

Relay is busted, or the current flowing in it is just borderline due to low voltage or dodgy ground. Or the control signal is genuinely toggling like crazy.

No other electrical weirdness? Hopefully just a strange coincidence, you'd expect more trouble if the alternator replacement was bodged.

Can you replace that relay with an identical relay from another non essential circuit?
If a relay that was quiet in another circuit starts buzzing there then it is the circuit and not the relay that is the cause. And vice versa.

Thanks for the help Atlantic. Turned the dash brightness up to full and buzzing stopped. Using car all day and no buzzing. The noise must have been a resistor holding back the current. Happy enough that it is fine example anyway.
