Need to install automatic bypass on a system. Currently has 3 pumps 1 for upstairs 1 for downstairs and 1 for cylinder. What is like to do is just have one pump out at boiler and 3 zone valves but customer wants to keep them inside. Do I need 3 separate automatic bypasses or is there anyway of getting away with the one?!

If you are fitting one pump and 3 motorised valves you need one auto bypass usually fitted on the cylinder pipe work but you fit the valve where it is most practical.

If it's a long run you want to fit the bypass nearer the boiler if efficiency is a concern.

He wants to keep the 3 pumps that currently there so I'm installing wireless stats to control the upstairs and downstairs rads as there currently on two switches.

What's the need for an auto bypass on this type of system?

To keep the seai happy! It's a boiler and heating controls upgrade. No need for bypass as it'll be wired up with boiler interlock but they require one

If you ring your inspector and explain it then that'd cover you
