    Hi Folks

How do I go about buying shares online? If I wanted to buy 10k worth of oil for example. What's the best way to go about it in Ireland?

    Thanks

Set up a broker account (Degiro is the one I use). Very easy to use.

You cant just buy 10K worth of oil. Where would you store it ;-)

Check out these links before you do anything

Cheers lads. I've set up an account with degiro. Just need to lodge to it to complete the setup.

Quick question, does it work like a normal account as in can I withdraw funds if I want to as well?

Yes, exactly. You can transfer money into it, and you can transfer money out of it. However, you can only transfer money out of it into the bank account you set your Degiro account with.

Can you invest in companies like Facebook, google etc with Degiro or is it only with stock exchange like NASDAQ?

Thanks, can you link me to their fund list? I can't see anything like that on their website.

You have to be signed up and have deposited funds in your account to view the entire list

    You can reset your password.

You can get an e-mail when an order is executed.

The article is from 2014, and if you scroll to the end of it you'll find a "UPDATE JUNE 2015" part saying how many of the issues (including the password reset) have been solved since then.

Ah, I skimmed the main points. Missed the updates - it should be at the top or they should edit the whole thing.

Can I ask a question as I'm new to the whole market investing thing. Betfair shares BET seem to be halted due to the merger with Paddypower. I can see Paddypowers share still active (falling) but BET is frozen.
Any idea when BET might start fluctuating again?

Betfiar (BET) no longer exists. All shares were acquired by Paddy Power and the original company was dissolved. Paddy Power has now become Paddy Power Betfair (PPB) which you can trade.
