Radiator bleed screw size

Hi there. The top of the bleed screw has sheared off one of our rads. The screw goes directly into the body of the rad (as far as I can make out). It's about 16 yrs old. I've tried 3 places to source a replacement screw, but they all only stock the newer hex fitting sets where the screw fits into a brass housing which then screws into the rad.

My question is - assuming I can remove the sheared screw, will the screw from the new set fit directly into the rad?... Or should I just leave the existing sheared screw alone and install the new brass bleed set elsewhere on the rad?

I got different answers from each of the places I visited.
