BMW Service vs Indy Mechanic

I'm curious on people's thoughts regarding using a BMW garage to service a BMW vs an Indy mechanic.
Obviously the Indy will be cheaper but would using a BMW mechanic make the saving irrelevant when it comes to resale value as the use of a BMW garage for servicing be reflected in the resale price.
Car is an 11 320d still under warranty from the garage which is not a BMW garage.

    Thanks.

Go with an Independent, Ive sold cars solely on condition and non BMW OEM maintenance history.

    Receipts Receipts Receipts!

Ive always gotten the best price possible.

BMW might not be as expensive as you think - www.bmwservice.ie

Equally its a 5 year old car without BMW Warranty. What value would be in paying extra for BMW to service it.

Because they will be more expensive.

My plan was to use BMW till the warranty expired and then use an Indy thereafter just in case there was any ambiguity with the garage claiming they didn't agree with the mechanic etc

BMWservice.ie has come in cheaper for me than an indy for the scheduled services. I generally use main dealer for all scheduled services, and then an indy for the more general maintenance where they beat BMW on price.

the car is still worth a few quid , why would you be looking to skimp on service costs at this stage ? I could understand if a bit older. If I was driving a circa. 20k car I would enjoy the main dealer experience - not be going to a back street garage who don't work on the cars everyday and know their faults and how they should drive.

no problem with say a 2009 car or older but would not want to buy a 2011 bmw that didn't have BMW stamps all through its history.

I got an oil service and brake fluid change on my 5 year old F10 done by BMW last year for circa €250. Local BMW indy wasn't too far below that price.

At that small price difference I'd continue to use the main dealer for regular maintenance as it can count towards goodwill at a later date from the manufacturer. For big jobs however there can be a huge difference in prices between main dealer and indy, unless the manufacturer is contributing goodwill then I'd take it elsewhere.

as bazz says above, I got a quote from E160 from bmw for oilservice and the highly rated independent down the road was E150, now with my car, Id prefer to give the money to the independent, but with a 2011 I would still defo stick to main dealer...

Main problem with going to a dealership is the severe temptation of sitting in the latest models. I always want to buy a new car after I've picked up a sump plug from the parts department.
