Blue Monday

It's the most miserable day of the year. Well, so the papers say anyway. It doesn't seem any different to any other day to me, I got up, took the dog to the beach, did a bit of work, lit the fire and swept the floors. Having coffee and toast now. No different to yesterday, last week, or last month.

How's your Monday going so far?

The AH mods actually pay the OP several grand a week to keep us all entertained.
I honestly wish I was joking.

And mine Monday's been completely fine. But then again I'm all over the gaff with sleeping. So I wouldn't notice it if it was a bad day

    It's Monday.

Monday is always a 'meh' day.

    Today's Monday is no different.

F*ck Monday in general. Maybe I should write a song about it, hasn't been done before.

Slept through my alarm so I was late to work. But the boss arrived about 90 secs after me so I totally got away with it.

    So far so good. :pac:

See, we're all having great Mondays. Where's the Daily Mirror article about us?

Reminds me of the time the undertakers kept going around in circles in the graveyard with a coffin.

    They'd clearly lost the plot.

I've been up since half six! An hour to myself before I get the children out to school. I've done next to nothing since then so have to run around like a mad one trying to get the house organised before they come and wreck it again.

Agreed - I've always said that Mondays are clear about being a b*stard.

Tuesdays are schneaky Mondays in disguise!

I say that too, Tuesday is just a crappy limbo day of nothingness

I woke up on time, got ready on time, then the bus never showed up. So I ended up having to get the later bus. 10 mins late meant that I was 40 minutes longer on the bus because of traffic, which meant arriving in work 40 minutes later.

That's okay, because I usually arrive very early. But it meant a massive queue in the shop to buy milk, and a massive queue for the lift because all of the students are back.

Then, midway through an important experiment the fire alarm went off. So that's a ruined experiment.

And then the fire warden gave out to me for bringing a coffee down the stairs and said it would be my fault if someone slipped on it if I spilled it, and it would be on my conscience if someone died in a fire because of it.

    So yeah. Great Monday.

I found last Monday much harder than I'm finding today. At this stage, I think, I've just resigned myself to the fact that January is happening and I just have to get through it.

I never minded Mondays so much. Tuesdays now, Tuesdays can go fcuk themselves.

Today is good. Was up at 6, went to the gym, came home, had tea and scrambled eggs and a green smoothie and was in work at 10. Sure it's only marvellous. And didn't I only go and make a beef stew yesterday for the lunch and a lamb stew for the dinner and I'm getting a load of new cycling gear tonight from a very nice man. So yeh. I like today.

This. Not finding this one too back despite less sleep than normal. I get down on Tuesdays normally but I am optimistic about this week whereas the start of last week was hell. If the coffee wears off soon though I may change my opinion :P

I quite like Mondays. Feels like the world is sort of cranking-up again after the weekend. Wednesdays, now - there's a whole ball-a'-shíte of neither-here-nor-there nothingness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭BUBBLES1978

Got up late then it took me 40 minutes to get from one end of my town to the other (school traffic!!). Now i'm in work and need a rocket up my hole, cant seem to get anything done

At least with Wednesday, you are halfway there. Payday tomorrow and then Friday, but Tuesdays are just ..................nothing days. Even Monday you are only back after the weekend.

Sunset is up to 16:41 today, grand auld stretch in the evenings. And it's not raining. I don't see what anyone could have to complain about.

I actually totally agree with this. The no man's land of Wednesday can be the worst part of the week, although Wednesday evening is nice because you know you've got the bulk of your work behind you now. Thursday is one of the best days, because tomorrow is Friday and the anticipation is delectable.

I retired just before Christmas, so lazy Mondays are still a novelty - and welcome. Like OP, I walked the dog on the beach and am now having a piping hot cup of tea and listening to Sean O'Rourke. Clearly Mondays at home are much more tolerable than Mondays at work. Stating the obvious, but I'm loving it.

That sucks. Been in that situation before, try look on the bright side and think of it as a new start.

Yep. Sorry to hear that - but somewhere down the line you'll look at something positive in your life and think "If I hadn't been let go from that job, this probably never would have happened".
