Pump runs Intermittently

    Hi,
I have a pressurised system in my house and late last night I heard a knocking in the pipes. Today it seems worse. The pump which is in the garage is running every 1 to 2 minutes. There are no signed of leaks and none of the taps, showers or toilets are running. Last week I had air in the system and had to bleed the rads as well as re-pressurise the system.
Any ideas on what to check? I'm going to call the plumber tomorrow.
    TIA
    Poco

There are several possible causes, but assuming you don't have a leak somewhere in the house, such as a toilet cistern overflowing, then I'd focus on the pump pressure vessel. It may have lost air and need re-pressurising.

Thanks nmacc. That's what my plumber is thinking also. He is coming out to look at it.

Just an update in case anyone has the same issue. It was the pressure vessel as suggested by nmac.

What pressure should that vessel be?

If you are asking me. I haven't a clue. My plumber pressurised it.
