Honda Accord Burning Oil

I have a 2006 Honda Accord 2.0 petrol, around 190,000 km on the clock.

On Christmas Day the oil level warning light came on so I filled the sump to the max level indent on the dipstick.

It took about 2 litres to get it there. I hadn't checked it prior to this for about 2 months of heavy driving (maybe 4k to 8k km).

I thought it may have been a leak but i have since been regularly checking under where the car is parked and have found no sign of oil.

Since then I've driven the car around 1,000 km and today I found the level about midway between the max and min indent on the dipstick.

Should I be concerned about this level of oil burning?
Is it a sign of a serious problem and is there any solution?

Also I used 5W-30 to refill even though I think 0W-30 is recommended by Honda, as I was a bit stuck for choice on Christmas Day.

Should I get 0W-30 for any future fill and will any serious damage result from the slight difference in grade?
The reason I ask is because you can pick up 5 litres of 5W-30 for €13 from Halfords whereas 0W-30 is €53.

So we're probably using somewhere between 500ml and 1l per 1000 km? That's not a huge problem, once you keep an eye on it and keep it topped up. I would personally use a top-shelf 0W-30 Grade IV synth in that, but that's just me and my crackpot theories, and because I can. A decent 5W-30 is just fine. Like I said, keep an eye on it.

Can you be sure what oil type was put it in at the last service?

Cheers I appreciate the reassurance. I'll keep logging mileage and oil level for a month or so and then just keep an eye on the level.

No the invoice wasn't that detailed. Would many places just throw in something generic that most cars can take?

As far as I'm aware, most places keep a stock of expensive-ish synthetic 5W-30 synth and another of not-so-expensive-ish 5W-30 semi. Mind you a Jag master-tech of many years told me a while ago that it's getting a little difficult to get bulk 5W-30 semi at a good price, so some places are going synth across-the-board, presumably Group III HC for the lower-end and Group IV PAO/Ester for the higher.
