Car broken into

So I discovered yesterday afternoon that my car was broken into in my driveway, sometime between Friday night and yesterday afternoon.

I found my business card in the driveway on the ground and picked it up thinking it may have fallen out of my bag somehow. Popped the baby and all the baby stuff in the back seat of the car and the sat in the driver seat. This is when i noticed my car was ransacked.

The glove compartment open, everything from that thrown on the ground. Basically every nook and cranny in the car was gone thru and everything thrown on the ground. They got stupid stuff like a bottle of whiskey that i just bought and never took out from under the seat and they also got my wallet with cash and cards which was in the booth of the car, but left my hand bag.

Im raging as never leave that kind of stuff in the car but was in tescos previous night and just dumped everything in the booth for handiness.

Im absolutely puzzled how they got in. No sign of forced entry at all, no damage at all. Even if you dont press lock on the car, it locks itself after a few seconds. No alarm went off either. 08 passatt.

I think it happened around 9.15pm as the dog started growling and barking at the window then but i never took any notice. Raging.

Sounds like you left it open, to be fair. I've never heard of a car that locks itself by itself. I know in some cars when you pop the locks but don't open a door they will relock themselves - but once you've been in the car and leave it, just closing the doors, it hardly locks itself?

I came out one morning to find the same in my brand new car last year - it was a horrible feeling to know someone had been in it and poking around. Thankfully there was nothing to nick. But I learned that lesson well and always double and triple check that I've locked it when I leave now!

I'd guess it was just chancers trying doors, and found yours open.

There is a thing going around where some of the more sophisticated scrotes have key fob blockers. When you press the central locking button the signal gets blocked from going to the car. We were warned about it in work. Was there anyone you noticed hanging around when you got out of the car?

Happened to me at a shopping centre last year. Parked up and noticed a really old bmw with 2 dodgy characters rushing up to park beside me in an otherwise empty car park. They could not get there quick enough before I got out.

They must have thought I came down in the last shower. I did not get out but drove out by them with the phone held up lIke I was filming then. They legged it.

Another colleague was in the car park next day and exact same thing. They would have been after laptops phones and the likes.

The car definitely locks itself if the keys are out of the ignition and doors are closed. Am also normally good in locking that ill double click it in the house before bed to be sure. But sure who knows.

No didnt notice anyone but i think the dog heard something as he was growling and barking. I will listen to him in future that's for sure.

Ita gas. My husbands car is a heap of crap and the locking system went on his car last week so his car is open all the time. Typical.

The car is off for forensics at the moment but i said to the guards that if it does show up something i wont be taking it any further as they know where i live.

The guards mentioned about the key fob over riding and also said they can drill a tiny hole under the door handle which isnt visible to the naked eye and this pops the locks.

Did they cut the wiring loom to one of the doors to get access? The car will only relock itself if you press open on the key and then don't open a door.
