Hi all, I got a good deal on flights to Malaga in mid-July so so that's where our family holiday is going to be this year !

The plan is to bus it out to Nerja so now the chase is on to book some accommodation. I stayed in his area back in 2002 but we were up in Frigiliana up the hills out of Nerja and only went down to the town for shopping and the odd meal out or beach visit.

So if we're going to be there for 2 weeks, and want to be relatively close to a beach (Burrianna beach was mentioned to me as being a good one for kids), are there any areas of the town that are better or more attractive than others, or are there any areas to be avoided ?

We won't have a car though we may hire one for a few days to do day trips to Marbella/Puerto Banus or up into the hills (Frigiliana/Torrox etc.) plus I hope to bring my cycling shoes and hire a road bike for a couple of days

So any suggestions for accommodation options / locations ? - many thanks

Parador hotel is very nice. It's on a hill overlooking that beach. It includes an elevator down to the beach. Only a short walk to the center of the town and resteraunts.

One thing to keep in mind that it's hilly around Burriana. From the beach it's quite uphill to town, and to a lot of the apartments there. I can't remember how long exactly the walk to town is but maybe 10-20 mins ish. It'd be uphill on way and downhill the way back.

There are some restaurants etc around Burriana so you don't necessarily need to go to center every night.

When we go to Nerja we much prefer to be closer to the Balcon for the evening times. Torecilla beach is quite nice and we've just booked an apartment halfway between there and Balcon for this year (about five mins to each). Usually we stay at Puerta deal Mar hotel which is great and excellent location but not really for young kids.

We booked with Teamstar rentals but haven't used them before so can't say yet what the apartments were like! There's also holidaynerja.co.uk who were very helpful.

One other thing, you possibly already know the bus details but I just remembered saving this link when I saw it about the journey - thought it was very clear. Have never got the bus - always taxi or car rental and regretted it when I read these instructions!

Cochrans Irish bar just off the Balcon (at the Toboso hotel) have screens and years ago when I watched a match there it was a good atmosphere. Presume all the Irish pubs would have it-just don't really know the other ones!

One other thing..... Might be worth checking tonight if they'll be open at that time tomorrow! I think some days they only open in the evenings so you don't want to arrive just at kick off to find it closed! The terrace would be open day times but maybe not inside with the screens.
