Repair broken wiper

So the wiper on my trusty Corolla is kaput. Found the spring under the bonnet but the hook is gone.

Got a hook from a Peugeot which looks like it will fit and I was thinking about trying to repair it. It seems I'll need to remove the wiper arm (no way I can pull the spring on while it is still attached)

It's looking like I might need to remove the bonnet also to access the arm properly....

Apparently the main dealer will only sell the full arm (80 yoyos) plus labour.

Worth a shot or should I just replace the entire thing??

On a toyo, a long time ago, I drilled a hole through the arm and put a steel pin in the hole to hold the spring. The old mount had simply worn away.

This happened to me just before Christmas on my e10 corolla (93). I just went to a breakers and got a second hand wiper arm (including the spring), cost a tenner and took 5 minutes to swap out.

By the way, I didn't have to remove the bonnet - there was a clip at the bottom of the wiper. Remove the clip and a hexagonal nut is there. Remove nut and the wiper comes free (after a bit of wiggling).

Okay great, that definitely simplifies things. There was a video on youtube where the guy removed the bonnet for easier access.

Yeah I thought about the breakers but they never called back when I enquired. I can try them again. Cheers.
