Creation watches help

Can anyone advise me what the chances are of getting stung with customs from buying from these chaps? Looking at a few Seiko watches for in around the €100 mark. 'If' I do end up with customs pointing the finger at me then what would it be roughly on an item I paid €100 for?. The watch is a lot cheaper then buying it here so if customs was only adding a few quid to it then that would probaby still be worth it.

    Thanks

Ive bought a few from creation and the highest amount of customs fees Ive had to pay is 30 euro on one watch

Use the ordinary post, not a courier, better chance of it getting through un-noticed. I think it's the VAT value that you have to pay, so if the watch is €200 the VAT is about €46. Maybe have a look on revenue website?

If you go with their free dhl delivery you'll definitely be paying as dhl automatically charge customs plus handling fee.

When I bought my Seiko SNZG13 a few years ago I payed €107 for it then €20 odd to customs.

I ended up buying elsewhere, couldn't be arsed with all that import VAT revenue guessing game crap. Some other time maybe if there is a major purchase I'm looking at.

Just my own experience, but a while back ordered a Seiko monster from Creation. Had it to my door in 4 days via DHL. No hassle with customs as DHL just sent me an invoice for around 15 euro that I paid over the phone. Total for the watch was considerably less than if sourced pretty much anywhere else.

    Hi all,
I want to return a watch I bought for my "wife" (no seriously) to Creation. How do I go about getting a refund on the customs charge do any of you know from experience?
Also if I do a simple exchange will I be stung a second time by customs?
    Thanks in advance.

AFAIK you need to contact customs before you send it back, had a google here

    What value was it?

Bit more here about labelling the package

Thought this might be worth an update should anybody not be a regular on TZ. I realise that this is primarily about HMRC in the UK but it may indicate a change to the way that Creation mark up watches and this could affect dispatches to Ireland as well. Of course, anybody in their right mind will budget to pay charges on stuff from outside the EU but I'll admit to a warm fuzzy feeling when something gets through.

The subject of import duties starts from about post #33.

To change the subject slightly I've always considered sellers like Creation Watches to be the horological equivalent of a low cost airline; nice and cheap, does exactly what it says on the tin etc. until something goes wrong and then you're sleeping on the floor of a large unheated shed 95 miles from the capital of Poliniumgrad for two days. In this light I suppose for us vintage collectors it's akin to accepting a lift from an old and decrepit uncle in his rust-coloured 1963 Vauxhall Victor; it's a bonus if it starts and you never ever know if you'll get there, until it's too late... (I won't extend the analogy any further in the direction of Uncle Monty for anybody familiar with Withnail and I)
