Reception Drinks Query

    Can somebody offer some input please. We have not discussed with the hotel yet, but have a query regarding drinks. We should have 190 guests and about 50-60 are non drinkers. The package includes 1/2 bottle wine per person. We don't know what to do regarding this as the non drinkers obviously will not be having their 1/2 bottle. We also don't want to exclude them and are considering asking for minerals instead for these people. But how would you approach it? Fill wine per glass till the (190 x 1/2 bottle) are gone and get hotel to provide/substitute minerals instead? Could we do a sale or return on minerals as I could get a few crates in replacement depending on how many are drank, also would there be potential corkage on these minerals? I know its only minerals but trying to keep all happy. Thanks for any advise.

    You could ask the hotel about providing a mineral substitute, or what you could also do is ask for jugs of coridal or punch to be put on the tables for the non drinkers. We did that because we had a fair few non-drinkers and kids at our wedding.

    Ask if they could provide non alcoholic wine for the non drinkers. I don't drink myself and have spoke to my venue to have this arranged and also non alcoholic champagne on arrival.

    We provided a variety of mineral drinks to be served at drinks reception and at tables.

    Your post is confusing coz the title refers to the drinks reception, but your reference to 1/2 bottle of wine per person obviously refers to the meal?

    Is your query about the drinks reception or the meal?

    Our venue put on bottles of shloer for the non drinkers during the meal, I presume you mean meal, otherwise you may serve them burger and chips for dinner as they will be too drunk to care by then! :)

    Hotel put out schloer for us and the non drinkers were delighted they said they don't often get remembered at weddings ☺

    Non-alcoholic wine can be pretty gank, you could ask them to make up some pitchers of nice simple non-alcoholic cocktails?
