I'm starting and locking this thread until the morning of the game as the regulars will know, these threads usually get a bit feisty.

So best to keep the peace until at least the day of the game.

    Thank you.

No chance. Hope you're right but i really doubt it.

If mignolet can turn up today and liverpool play with the same intensity as against arsenal it could be a long day for united.

3-1 liverpool but it could easily be 3-3 aswell.

Is there anything to be said for team sheets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,308 ✭✭✭madcabbage

This could be a goal fest considering the defensive record of these two of late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,113 ✭✭✭mada999

i just think there's gonna be a crazy result today... and hopefully it is for Liverpool

Winner has a shot at the 4th place trophy. What a time to be alive!

Historic times for both clubs - nevermind Istanbul 05 or Barcelona 99!

May as well go for 5-0 to overtake them in the table.

I think we'll win, or at least draw, but possibly lose.

United defence won't cope with the gegenpress, goalscoring or not, they'll concede more anyway, especially late on.

4-2 in the offing, with the losing side blaming the ref.

We're shít. That can easily apply to both sets of fans.

This could really go any way. It could be the most boring 0-0 ever or one of the teams could humiliate the other.

Any Liverpool win will do for me obviously, but if forced to go for a result I'll say 1-1.

I love this fixture, as a neutral. I am going to go for Liverpool, 3-1. I just can't see United getting the goals they need to win this, even with Liverpool's rubbish defence. I think the positive, active Liverpool will turn up today, given their opponents and their high pressure game will allow them to dominate the game and get the goals they need.

That being said, I would love it if they both went all out for the win and it ended up 4-3 to either.

I think the forwards of both sides will have to be on form today because if you don't score, you hardly ever win.

"We'd have won if we had a good goalkeeper" was pretty common in the Pool, Arsenal thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,987 ✭✭✭mikeym

I hate losing to Man Utd but all Utd have to do is to get loads of corners because Liverpool cant defend from corners :(

Dont forget Louis Van Gaal has a 100% win record against Liverpool and he loves playing against Liverpool.

My heart would love Klopp and Liverpool to win but the head says it will be a score draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,026 ✭✭✭✭adox

Fancy Liverpool to win this. Their high pressing game will see them win out in the end. Utd won't have the bottle to be up for the fight needed.

Expect plenty of goals too. Two relatively poor teams in a poor league.

If "possession" Utd turn up expect to be bored to tears.

United have been very lucky with keepers over the years.

    So many top class keepers.

I think Liverpool will win which is always agonising, but LVG getting sacked over it would be a good remedy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,784 ✭✭✭Damien360

2 sets of rubbish defensive units. Should be plenty of goals from both sides. Score draw all over it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,390 ✭✭✭Bowlardo

United are certain of at least a goal if not more from a corner or a free kick type cross. The plus side of this is that fellani will be playing as this is van gaal tactic and fellani will slow up united somewhat terrible so united could be potentially terrible to watch today

Benteke will surely get one today. worries that firmino has yet to put back to back performances in and the fact that adam lallana is absolute scutter.

Both team have to to win.it is that simple it will be interesting has van gaal set out his team to this or will the fear of losing his job if loses too much

sending off a certainty which will probably ruin an engrossing game

Was it the previous meeting between these teams that was memorably described by someone here as "like watching your sisters play FIFA"?

I doubt a bad result today will make any difference in whether LVG stays or not.
He will be here until top 4 is out of his reach.

He will not get sacked till they can not mathematically reach the CL, I am sure they have a clause in his contract meaning he does not get much compensation if this happens. They did the last time.
