I have gas central heating that is hardly used, in fact not since sometime last winter at the latest, I plugged it in yesterday and....nothing so the heating is useless :(

I've checked the plug wiring and fuse just to rule that out, its a Myson.

Any thoughts, could the impeller just be seized due to lack of use?

The armature in the pump might be just lightly seized from lack of use.
Remove vent screw on the end of pump, insert a flat head screwdriver which will find a slot on the pump shaft.turn the shaft using the screwdriver. This may sort the problem

Vent screw is the round black part on the front face I take it (below the brand name).

On the right hand side of your picture.there should be a screwdriver slot on head of screw .Place a towel under pump as a small bit of water will come out.Ensure system is cold

Cheers, I have a look at it tomorrow.

Okay had a look (cheers for the vid) pulled off the black cap and underneath was a bolt-head rather than a screw-head fitting, so loosened that and kept turning, it came out about 7/8mm but wouldn't seem to come out any further. Didn't want to force the issue so wiped away so leaking fluid (which looked and smelt like oil) pushed it back in, tightened it up and plugged in the power. Lo and behold it was running. Put the gas heating on and as I speak the system is still running with no funny noises or vibrations and the radiators are warming through nicely.
