Ford Focus Order timeline

Hi - looking for some advise, I ordered a new Focus 18th November and was told it would be available 3rd week of Jan. Im now told it won't be available until end of Feb at the earliest but the dealer wasn't sounding very committed to this date.

Does anybody know what standard order timeline on them is?

Its a Zetec- S - not a model popular here but v common in the U.K.

It was a factory order - nothing too special about it though, just added parking pack and auto pack to it. Am concerned that the 4 week delay could lead to a longer delay e.g. could the dealer have forgotten to place the order until January when I asked when would it be due in?

im waiting on a zetec s too with a few extras. I ordered mine on the 7th November and was told i would have it by early January. There is still no sign of it the dealer keeps saying its due in but still has not arrived. getting a bit annoyed now, surely it can't take that long to build a car?

Unusual for a Ford to be delayed at the moment.

Sounds like a parts shortage for something that's either standard on the Zetec S, or an option that's been specified.

I don't have any Focus's on order at the moment to give an idea of how long they take, but generally it's around 8-10 weeks for fresh orders.


Doesn't take long to actually build a car, but the next free production slot in the factory may be 5-6 weeks away, then it's 2-3 weeks from it leaving the factory to arriving to the dealers. Transport from factory to the docks, ferry to Ireland, transport from docks to compound, then transport to dealer.

Thanks for the info. I rang another dealer to see if I got a different story and was told that the next batch of Zetec S's due in won't be here till end March! No idea if they were giving reliable information but said it looks like they are all being delayed. Mine is fairly standard so maybe the 2.0 engine is on back order as thats the only real difference with your average Focus

Im v keen to get that exact model and dont see any direct alternatives so I'll play the waiting game, but the lack of specific information is a fairly annoying
