First Registration of Property Title - Delays

Does anybody know of any reason for a significant delay in registration of Title? Title was sent to the Land Registry in October 2013 for registration, but there's been no word from them since. Solicitor told me about 6 months ago not to be too worried, that there's just a backlog - but over 2 years now is a bit much?…

Anybody any experience/insight before I chase the solicitor again?

I understand that the number of examiners effectively halved over the past 2 years or so. Was it a €1m+ sale? Under that level, my solicitor told me he could certify title which would eliminate the need for an examination.
