Santa fe 2004 2005 petrol advice

Hi considering buying a santa fe for the size with family...

Currently driving a 2004 Honda accord 2.0 petrol

Problem is the accord is tiny.in back for three car seats..

Would the santa fe be much more expensive to run in comparison and are the santa fe reliable?

The Santa Fé is about 300kg heavier and has a less aerodynamic profile.

If you're looking at the petrol Santa Fé (2.4l) the quoted mpg figures are far worse than the Accord, but the 2.0l diesel is on par.

2.0l Petrol Accord = 38mpg
2.4l Petrol Santa Fé = 28mg
2.0l Diesel Santa Fé = 37mg

I'd look at the Honda CRV, it's much better built than the Santa Fe and in the years you are looking its a bit more modern.

From the parkers list the 2.0 petrol with manual gearbox is 39 mpg the accord is 38

is the 2L d really capable of 37mg in real life conditions

are you looking at a 2wd? either way 39mpg is not really going to happen. i'd be expecting 35mpg motorway and mid to late 20's around town if driving easy.

even the diesels weren't particularly economical and the petrol engine while a reliable old mule, is in no way refined.
